Neighborhood Beautification Help:
Small neighborhood groups such as block clubs can do a lot to make neighborhoods more beautiful, safe, and inviting. In Cleveland, there are financial resources available to groups that want to take on activities such as:
Block club organizing/leadership training
- Street clean-ups
- Youth safety programs
- Landscaping/flower boxes
- Community events/neighborhood organizing
-
And so much more!
Please call CNVDC at 216-383-9772 or e-mail gp@cnvdc.org for more information and ideas regarding starting or joining a South Collinwood block club (or other type of neighborhood group).
Funding available for small neighborhood groups:
| Cityworks Grant Program (City of Cleveland) |
|
Cityworks is a neighborhood-based, matching grant program that has been developed to encourage new and creative efforts in partnership with small citizen groups such as block clubs, street clubs and resident organizations for eligible activities. Cityworks awards grants of up to $3,000 to block clubs and other neighborhood groups for projects that improve the quality of life within Cleveland neighborhoods. These grants require dollar-for-dollar, matching contribution of cash, volunteer labor, or donated services (i.e.: a $3,000 grant would require $3,000 in matching funds, labor, or services). Neighborhood Connections Grant Program
How the program works Neighborhood Connections provides financial assistance to groups led by community members in the city of Cleveland, funding projects that improve the quality of life in local neighborhoods. There are two rounds of grants each year, with deadlines in February and August. Grants range from $500 to $5,000. In addition to improving neighborhoods, grants are intended to assist neighborhood groups with building or strengthening relationships to other neighborhood groups and to larger, more-established community-based organizations.
Who is eligible Groups do not need to be an official nonprofit organization to apply. Any community-led group in the city of Cleveland is eligible for funding.
How grants are decided All funding decisions are made by a Grantmaking Committee, a group of 24 Cleveland residents who are passionate about the city they call home.
